Apple Computer, Inc – The Devil’s Advocate
Most of you may have heard of the unveiling of IPHONE by Apple Computer, Inc. CEO Steve Jobs (if you haven’t heard of this “IPHONE”, I’m not sure how you got to my site) and the change of the company’s name from Apple Computer, Inc. to Apple, Inc.
IPHONE features are extraordinary – advanced touch screen interface, OSX, GOOGLE maps, web browsing, and a hard drive of 4GB or 8GB. This is a great product, I have been looking for such a phone for quite some time, and now a phone that exactly fits my criteria is here. But wait, why am I not happy? I should be jumping up and down, as a wish list product that I have been wanting for so long is finally available. After the massive disappointment of Microsoft’s Origami a.k.a. the Ultra Mobile Personal Computer (UMPC), Apple, Inc., IPHONE was like a dream come true. Unfortunately, That hope soon went down the tube. Apple is resorting to the same tactics it did in the past with Personal Computers that brought it down and it seems that Apple is doing the same thing. In fact, Apple’s tactics appear similar to the strong-arm tactics of Microsoft. The only difference being, Apple has such an excellent brand image that, no one seems to complain about it.
Using dogs as an analogy, whenever people think of Apple, Inc – they think of an innovative company AND an underdog! Here is the image people have of Apple:
When I think of Apple Computer, Inc. I think of the Image below – [Lovely on the Outside, Pure Devil inside!]
I quite frankly think that Steve Jobs made a pact with the devil, in which his company completely dominates the market and relentlessly destroys its competition but at the same time is seen as an underdog.
Lets’ look at this, Apple completely locks out all other MP3 players from its ITUNES, if that isn’t anti-competitive and monopolistic, then what is? It is worse than Microsoft bundling its Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player with its Operating System and eliminating its competition. Apple came up with an exceptional idea, and yes it did legitimize the online music buying but at the same time you can’t deny the fact that Apple is anti-competitive and monopolistic. Apple, Inc. is now doing the same thing with its IPHONE. Apparently, you can add any third party software to it, and Apple, Inc. will completely control what applications that are installed in its IPHONE.
If you ask me, Apple, Inc. will meet the same fate it met in its Personal Computer industry, and I am not going to feel bad about it either.
