Exxon Mobil and Energy Companies
Energy Companies like Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) seem to be doing quite good. The Energy sector was up 2.26%. Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM) was up 2.18%, an increase of $1.57, ExxonMobil was last traded at $73.53. Within the Energy Sector, Whittier Energy Corp. (WHIT) was up 22.68%, Evergreen Energy Inc. (EEE) was up 12.46% increased by 1.97% and it was last traded at 72.32. The infamous Halliburton Company (HAL) was up 2.58% an increase in price of $.74. Other notable gainers include Bolt Technology Corp (BTJ), which increased by 9.64%, Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), and Exploration Company of Delaware, Inc.
The biggest losers in the Energy sector include Enterra Energy Trust (ENT), which lost 12.16%, BMB Munai Inc. (KAZ), which lost 5.02%. Other notable losers in the oil sector include Particle Drilling Tech (PDRT), Tri-Valley Corporation (TIV), McMoRan Exploration Co. (MMR). Stocks of Enterra Energy Trust, a Canadian oil and natural-gas producer fell because the government announced a plan to start taxing income trusts. The drop of 12% was the largest since 2003.
Energy Companies seem to be a good bet, as Oil prices rebounded to 3% due to the severe cold temperatures raging in the United States. The low temperature in North East U.S. boosted oil consumption and U.S. crude increased by $1.51 and ended at $51.99 a barrel, after falling $1.76 to $50.48, a 3.4% decrease on Thursday.
