Nike Dividend Policy

Some of you may know that one of the first financial articles I wrote for the site was Nike Financial Analysis. In fact, Nike Financial Analysis spawned our Indews Financial Website. If it wasn't for Nike Financial Analysis article, I would have never thought of actually having a financial related website. Anyway, as usual I have been looking through the logs and it appears that people visited the Nike Financial Analysis page primarily for Nike Dividends policy. Since, the article I wrote is over 11 pages long, it would take forever for you to find out where the dividend policy is. I hope that this article helps all of you struggling visitors in getting your information a bit quicker.

For starters, unlike Apple, Nike does have a dividend policy. The company pays its shareholders dividends every quarter. Nike paid its shareholders a divided of $0.12 per share in the first quarter of year 2002, to $0.37 a share in December of 2006. Nike paid $157 million in dividends for the first half of fiscal 2007, and for the quarter Nike announced an increase in per share dividend rate from $0.31 to $0.37 effective for the dividend paid in January 2007.

Nike’s dividend yield and payout ratio are considerably higher than its competitors. In regards to its dividend policy, Nike is very attractive, and is very much in the industry. Nike also has a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP) and allows its shareholders to participate in it through its Nike Direct-SERVICE Program. Through this program, shareholders can convert their cash dividends into shares at a significant discount to the current share price.
