Aerobic Exercise - Running for Health

Well, the past two weeks I have been running everyday on treadmill, and have to say, I feel very good. I actually even had a sort of pot belly and it is totally gone. My mom was complaining two weeks back that guys my age don't have potbellies like me, and I felt bad for myself and started running.

After 2 weeks of running and last 5 days of intense running, I have to say my stomach is kinda flat I still have a lot of fat around the sides of abdomen, but it has reduced considerably. It was noticeable before with clothes on, but not anymore.

This is what my basic running involves:

I walk about 10 minutes at 3.6 miles per hour, then run at 6 miles per hour for 20 minutes, followed by another 10 minutes of 3.6 miles per hour, and then wrap it up with 5-10 minutes of 6 miles per hour. I have always seen people who run A LOT more than me, in fact, some of the regulars I see run about 7 to 7.5 miles per hour for 15 to 20 minutes. I remember running at the lever 4 years back, and it would be nice to get back there, but it is an effort to even run 15 minutes. I have noticed that if I don't cover the number of minutes I run, I tend to run a lot less, but if the time I have run is unknown, I run A LOT more. It seems that the longer for me to run is pure mind over matter. I remember when running, I look at the clock and think, "Ok, 7 minutes seems to be enough", and I get tired as I get close to 7 minutes, and it seems like a HUGE effort to run the last 30 seconds. Another run I made a while after that with unknown time, I easily ran 15 minutes, and wasn't even half as tired as I was when I did a 7 minute run. I think a good way to run would probably be to sing, or listen to something you will pay attention very intensely. I found that if I sing a song in my mind (or loud), it takes my mind off of the amount of time has passed, this makes me run a lot more. Presently, I am counting numbers and singing songs, but I think it would be a good idea for me to drop counting numbers, as numbers themselves are targets like time, and I could just decide (and have decided) to stop running after counting say 200.

I used to have this headache due to my stress from exams, and it last for months. After I have started running, my headache has gone completely and I feel very good. Moral of the story, aerobic exercises keeps you healthy and keeps the headaches or other stress related problems away. I am considering adding running 10 miles per hour for 2-3 minutes to my aerobic exercises regimen. I have noticed that whenever I run at 10 miles per hour, even for a minute, I am totally pumped! I am fully active, and feel very good. Unfortunately, it affects my 6 miles per hour run, so I have to find a compromise between the two as running 10 miles per hour makes me feel very good.

I am also doing strength training with chest workout, lat pull downs, shoulders, triceps, and biceps. I haven't worked on my abs, but probably will after a while, along with jumping ropes, which is something I really want to do, as I hear it is really good exercise as well.

Moral of the story? Aerobic Exercises are good, and you should do it whenever you can! From my personal experience, I feel extremely good after doing aerobic exercises for 2 weeks, and will continue to do so everyday from now on.
