Blog Upgrade

As many of you may have noticed, there has been an upgrade on our site. Previously we were on Movable Type 3.2 version and have now upgraded to Movable Type 3.3. One of the reasons that made us move was the layout styles. The older version did not have the styles ability, but the newer one had some very appealing styles. So, this provided us an extra incentive to move to the latest version.

This isn't the first time we tried to upgrade to the latest version. Some of you who have visited the site on late monday, may have noticed the site going on/offline intermittently. This was because we were trying to upgrade the site. It happened to be a total disaster and we werne't abloe to upgrade at all. We spent over 5 hours well into 3 midnight trying to fix the site, but to no avail. The site issues would persist. The problems mainly revolved around category templates. We customized the main index template and the individual archive template. We believed that the upgrade would erase all the older templates and install new ones. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, the upgrade left the old templates intact, and the older custom templates wouldn't work with the newer ones. We spent 4 hours just trying to copy and past newer templates to the upgrade or erasing the older templates but none of them worked.

Finally, this morning we decided to first delete all custom templates, revert the site to its default templates, and then attempt upgrade. As it appears, it finally worked. It was decided that the site have a much more professional look so, we adopted a newspaper style layout. Since the site is focused on political, news, and finace related topics and newspaper styled layout would be very appropriate.

It is our hope that you as our viewers like our new look. If you have any suggestion, please do leave a comment and we will look into it.
