Junk Comments and Trackbacks

The number of Junk Comments and Track backs that my site is getting is insane. On average, there are over 10 junk comments that get placed into my regular comment section on a daily basis. Comments that do correctly go the Junk Comment folder are even higher.

I just don’t understand how can someone sit on a computer and just write junk comments for hundreds of site. I am aware that a lot of comments are just automated, but when I see the comments that end up in my inbox folder, I am pretty positive that they were manually written.

The comments are for the most part not even related to the article in question. For example, I had a comment on visiting a Nintendo Game site, while the article about Nazis and Hitler. I don’t know what connection does a Nintendo game site have with Nazis, except maybe the both start with the word N! Another example would be my Portfolio Management article. The comments on that page, you would expect Spam to be at least business related, but no, the comments are junk comments and are related to some international dating service. Now, as said before about Nazis and Hitler, what does International Dating Service has to do with Portfolio Management?

I think I need to strengthen my junk comments filter, as I am getting extremely annoyed by all of these unrelated and useless comments. I think, I did a good thing by implementing screening of all comments before they were posted on the site. Otherwise, the site would have been flooded with the most useless comments, and would have wasted my precious bandwidth.
