Michigan Fishing

Fishing in Michigan

I just wanted to write something about this, even though my knowledge regarding fishing isn't that sufficient. For starters, I have fished about five to six times, and all of them were in Michigan. From what I remember, the best place I had luck in catching the fish was in Detroit River. They were small fish, but that is the only place I remember catching a lot of fish.

In order to improve my fishing, I was advised to use Minnows but when I went to the bait shop to buy them, they were out. Minnow is a small fish that is used as bait, and improves the chances of catching fish (I have been told). So, for those of you who want to use minnows as live bait, it is better if you wake up early in the morning, go to a bait shop, and get your minnows. For the fishing rod, I have Tiger Spinning, Shakespeare. I think Tiger Spinning is the name of the company and Shakespeare the product. The fishing rod seems OK, but at first I kept getting it tangled, but now I know how to handle it.

Now, I am pretty sure fishing in up north Michigan would be much better than fishing near metro Detroit, and the fish up north can be eaten safely compared to the ones near Detroit. I was told by my friend that the fish caught near Detroit are quite safe, but being an industrial city, I am not going to eat anything out of these rivers.

I made a few searches for good fishing spots around Metro Detroit, and these were some of the suggestions people made, so I hope they are useful to you folks.

- Monroe State Park
- Harsen's Island
- Algonac
- Detroit River
- Lake St Clair
- Lake Erie

Well, that does it for my Michigan Fishing article. I will update you guys soon on any further fishing updates of mine.
