People getting angry over high gas prices
This is mostly a rant against a specific group of people who complain about high gas prices. If I have offended anyone, I apologize, but I just wanted to get this off my chest anyway. This morning I was watching CNN, and how they were asking people about the rising gas prices, and everyone was complaining that gas prices are way too high. Ok, I understand that gas prices are extremely high, but some of these people who were complaining were just hypocrites. Most of the guys filling up the gas were on SUVs, the big gas guzzlers, and had no one in their cars, and were complaining how high gas prices were.
I mean seriously, I can't see how you can complain about high gas prices while driving a huge SUV. There are some exceptions where people do need to drive SUVs, but I can't imagine where it is a necessity for everyone to drive SUVs. I mean this isn't the first time I saw on TV people driving Big SUVs, and in one specific instance a guy driving Lexus with no passengers, and then complaining about gas prices.
I think complaining about high gas prices, setting up congressional hearings, and hoping for lower gas prices in the future isn't enough. We have to reduce gas consumption ourselves, switching from SUVs to regular cars could be the first step (we are not even talking about fuel efficient vehicles). If we change our habits, we can considerably decrease our oil addiction. I think I am getting a bit off topic, but a widespread public transportation definitely will help us in our goal of decreasing our oil addiction.
