Since it seems that Hillary Clinton might be our next Secretary of State in the Obama Administration, we can be quite sure that there will be a major overhaul to our current health care system. Reformation of Healthcare was one of Hillary Clinton's top agendas during primary run up, and if she is the Secretary of State, she will make sure that Health Care reform would be one of the top agendas of Obama Administration.
Universal Healthcare is a great idea, and every developed country has some sort of Universal Healthcare system, making United States the only exception in the industrialized world. Now, I am quite happy with the idea of Universal Healthcare, and have heard Obama talk about it as well, I have few reservations nonetheless.
A lot of health problems that we see nowadays are a direct result of people leading very unhealthy lifestyles. One only needs to look at McDonalds or other fast food chains and know that what people consume everyday isn't healthy, in fact, it is outright bad. Now, while I was trying to sleeping last night, it got me thinking - Why should rest of America pay or foot the bills of people who choose to lead unhealthy lives? Granted majority of America leads a very unhealthy lifestyle - eating packaged foods, eating too much or not right, and in many cases not exercising at all; we should encourage, or in this case force people to actually change their dietary or lifestyle habits. I know that this is America and everyone can do whatever damn thing they wish, but if people want a universal healthcare they should make some attempt of actually trying to lead a healthy lifestyle in the first place.

Now, my post isn't directed towards people who have problems due to genetics or some diseases, or not able to exercise as they have some health problems. My post is directed towards those who eat at fast food chains due to convenience or don't work out because they feel lazy. A lot of diseases / issues /problems that we see nowadays are due to the fact that people are obese or overweight. If people exercised daily, or had meals that weren't so loaded with artificial preservatives, there might not have been such a large health issue in this country. Once again, I am not targeting this towards people who have cancer or other ailments in which they have no control over, but people with problems that surface due to their lifestyle. Obese or overweight people are more likelier to have diabetes or other ailments. If people exercised, ate fresh foods, slept on time, the chances of getting sick would be less, and they wouldn't rack up huge hospital bills.
I am not saying people who don't lead healthy life style should be barred from having Universal Healthcare, but I do think that some effort must be made that makes people change the way they are living. As such, I think there should be some provisions in any further health care changes, that makes people go "EXERCISE", or at least lead some sort of a healthy lifestyle.
