Gas Prices and Their Effect on Driving Behavior

Well, in order to add another perspective to the blog, I asked my friend Era Circunstancio again to write an article on rising gas prices, and how it is affecting his and other drivers driving habit. I have already written two articles on record high gas prices, including Rising Gas Prices, and High Oil Prices - Lifestyle Changes. If you have any tidbits that you would like to share, please do so, and use the comments form to tell us how record high gas prices is affecting you.

Blog Software Upgrade

Upgrading the site's blogging software

I would just like everybody to know that there is going to be a possible upgrade to our current blogging software. It has been over 2 years since I have upgraded my blog, and there are apparently quite a few updates to the current blogging software.

Past experiences have taught me that not upgrading the site to the latest updates has very hefty penalties. I didn't upgrade some of my previous scripts and they were hacked by unscrupulous people, and I don't want such a situation repeating. The upgrade will take this week, and during the upgrade, it is possible that the site will go offline or won't be available for viewing.

Finance Dictionary - Business Concepts

Finance Dictionary or Finance Wiki on the cards - Business Concepts in Detail

Well, I was thinking about what would be a good addition to the site, and it got me thinking - a finance dictionary wouldn't be such a bad idea. There are quite a few websites out there that explain financial business concepts, but most of them merely give you the definition. The dictionary that will be provided by Indews Financial will not only give you the definition but will also explain the concept in details with examples.

Well, I have already written numerous articles about how Clinton will end up being the Vice President, or she will blackmail Obama for it. I thought it would be good to bring in another perspective. I asked my friend Era Circunstancio, to write about Clinton and Vice Presidency. This is his opinion.

Title: Clinton as VP: Against Obama's Message of Change
Author: Era Circunstancio
Published: 6/9/2008

With the closing of the Montana primary last Tuesday, all eyes were focused on the new presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. Barack Obama surpassed the magic number of 2118 delegates that night to clinch his party's nomination. No sooner had reporting of Obama's historic win made news than the media set their attention on potential running mates for the upcoming presidential election. Of the many likely candidates, Hillary Clinton immediately took the spotlight. After having run a fierce campaign against Obama in the primary season, she is now vying to fill the vice-presidential spot on the Democratic ticket in November.

Blogging Everything Except Finance

Writing a disproportionate number of General articles instead of Finance Articles

It seems that these days I am spending more time blogging and posting articles about normal events of my life rather than financial related articles.

The last financial articles I wrote were about Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google Stock History. I will try to write more financial related articles, but since GMAT is on June 20th, I won't be able to dedicate a significant portion of my time to write them. Writing financial articles takes time compared to just blogging about events that occur during my daily life, hence the greater number of general articles on Indews Financial.

Michigan Fishing

Fishing in Michigan

I just wanted to write something about this, even though my knowledge regarding fishing isn't that sufficient. For starters, I have fished about five to six times, and all of them were in Michigan. From what I remember, the best place I had luck in catching the fish was in Detroit River. They were small fish, but that is the only place I remember catching a lot of fish.

In order to improve my fishing, I was advised to use Minnows but when I went to the bait shop to buy them, they were out. Minnow is a small fish that is used as bait, and improves the chances of catching fish (I have been told). So, for those of you who want to use minnows as live bait, it is better if you wake up early in the morning, go to a bait shop, and get your minnows. For the fishing rod, I have Tiger Spinning, Shakespeare. I think Tiger Spinning is the name of the company and Shakespeare the product. The fishing rod seems OK, but at first I kept getting it tangled, but now I know how to handle it.

Went Fishing

Fishing in Michigan

Well, I went fishing yesterday with one of my friends, and for the second time in a row I caught no fish. Absolutely none, Nada! I am getting quite disappointed with these unsuccessful attempts.

I don't remember the name of the park we went last time for fishing, but this time around we went to Elizabeth Park. We got ourselves Canadian Night Crawler worms, although our plan was get minnows. Apparently minnows are usually available in the morning, and we went in the afternoon (probably around 3ish), and they were already out. The worms were HUGE, compared to the worms in Meijers.

Sprint Sero Referring

Getting my friends Sprint Sero

Well, I had another friend who was dissatisfied with Metro PCS and was looking around for cell phone plans. I suggested to him to get Sprint Sero, and he finally got the phone from Sprint day before yesterday.

He was quite annoyed with Metro PCS that they cut off his phone just because he missed paying his bill by one day. I don't really know much about Metro PCS, I think it was a prepaid plan. He had unlimited net, text messaging, and I am not sure about the number of minutes he had. After I suggested Sprint Sero, he took about 2 weeks to make the decision, and decided to go with the same phone as mine, Motorola Q9C.

Hillary Clinton Eyes Secretary of State or Vice Presidency

Hillary Clinton for Vice President............Or the Secretary of State?

Well, I wrote this article the day after Barack Obama won the nomination, and at the time Clinton didn't concede. So, it's a little bit out of date, but still relevant. I don't want to waste a paragraph I wrote. I wrote about one para that day, and the rest of it I wrote it today, so, its a mix of events accumulated over the last three days.

The campaign has now concluded, and Barack Obama is finally the presumptive nominee for the Democrats. I was a little agitated that she didn't concede, but of course she has ulterior motives.

Microsoft Windows Touch Operating System

Microsoft Windows Touch OS Demo

I was reading news on BBC, and the headline Microsoft demos "touch Windows" caught my eyes. Apparently Microsoft is working on its new operating system and will have a "touch interface".

Now, this isn't really exactly surprising. When I wrote the Samsung Instinct and Iphone OS article, I thought wouldn't it be nice if we had a touch enabled operating system similar to that of CNN? I wondered long would it take for these touch interface to make it to mainstream computers. It seems like it will be arriving by 2010, when Microsoft will release its Windows 7 (whatever its name officially will be).

Who is Calling?

Who is Calling me at this hour?

Sometimes you just wonder who is calling me? And I have wondered A LOT these days. Since I use cell phone, whenever anyone calls, I usually know who it is calling, but there are sometimes you don't know who it is calling. When some tries to call you while having their phone number blocked, the dial pad usually shows up as "Private" (on Motorola Q9C) or "Blocked Call" (Palm Centro).

I didn't know that people could actually block their cell phone number from being displayed, but later came to catch on. A lot of times I thought when my phone number showed "Unknown" (on my Motorola Q9c), I thought those were blocked calls as well. Later on, I realized that it comes as "Unknown", if you are not on the Sprint Network or were roaming.

Well, today has been the most uneventful day. I have quite a lot of things to do and I have managed to do almost nothing. I spent a good amount of time last night watching Star Trek Enterprise on Scifi channel. Now, I don't regret watching Star Trek Enterprise, it was fun, and I think it was time well-spent, but unfortunately, I have so many other things to do that watching Star Trek Marathon ate up my time.
Illegal Immigrants Arrested

Illegal Immigration - Was watching CNN, and they reported that over 900 Illegal immigrants were arrested in Northern California. My first thought when I heard this was "Wow". How the hell on earth did they arrest 900 people who were here illegally?

It seems that if immigration officials want to tackle illegal immigration, they really can. It just seems that it more of a lack of will or hesitancy on their part in enforcing them. Now, I seriously don't think it is possible to remove over 12 million illegal immigrants unless scare tactics are adopted and that would probably only divide the country. Nonetheless, a stronger enforcement would probably discourage people from coming here in the future, and those who are here and haven't been able to carve out a future for themselves might also try to find greener pastures elsewhere.
