Got Hit with a $25 Chase Insufficient Funds Fee
This morning when I woke up, I got the dreaded Insufficients Fees email in phone, and I felt my rest of the day was going to be bad as hell. The last time I was hit by an Insufficient Fund Fee was a year and a month ago, and when I mistakenly paid my payments twice on Capital One Credit Card, and the second time it charged, I was out of money in my Checking Account. This time around, I forgot that I added cash into my Paypal account from my Check Account. Since, I didn't know that Paypal hasn't processed my request, I let my checking account get lowered to unreasonable amount, and this morning I get an insufficient fees notice.
Now that this is the second time I got the notice, I was quite annoyed, and as I am in college, and when every dollar is precious to me, I had to find a way to recover my money. I looked up online, and pleasantly found that Chase forgives you 1 Insufficient Funds Fee every 12 months, which means that I could have had my last insufficient funds fees removed if I had called them. Nonetheless, I was happy to hear about it, and called Chase Bank (Getting to them is a confusion), and told the representative that I hand an Insufficient Funds Fees charged to my checking account, and I would like to have that removed. She politely obliged and almost instantly my Insufficient Funds Fee was waived (I saw the changes on their website immediately).
Now, for those of you are in a similar mess as me, getting to an account representative is a confusion, so just remember that if you want to get in touch with a customer representative, call the regular Chase Number and try to get in touch with a "Telephone Banker". The telephone banker will help you in getting your insufficient funds waived. Also, make sure you have your debit card on hard, and that you remember your PIN number. It can greatly speed up your process, if you have these things on hand.
I like that Chase lets you waive your Insufficient Funds Fee, although it would be better if they had that option for ever 3 or 6 months instead of just once a year. For the moment, I am not complaining and am happy that I got my $25 back.

How can you take over WaMu and be so cheap. I have almost all my stuff with you and I have over 50,000.00 in my checking account and what interest do I get fifty cents. How cheap can you get? You can't even give me a telephone number where I can get to a real person. I also have a loan on a home I bought and you sure are charging me enought interset plus lots more with your bank. I am beginning to think it is time to go else where.
Leona,
I think it would be a good time for you to take your business to a Credit Union where you are likely to get a much cheaper loan, and a real face to face interaction with people.
Chase loots $ from their customers with insufficient charge while they pay penny for their dollars investment. Customers please chase this bank out.
The same thing just happened to me (even the PayPal part). I called and chose to speak to a "Telephone Banker". I just asked "how can I get my fee waived" and she put in a request. It went through while we were on the phone. The phone call lasted less than 5 minutes.
Thanks Bhaskar I was about to go all the way to the bank.
Btw your fee ($25) is lower than mine. Last year it was $32 and this year its $35. I'm in New York.
$73 tank of gas
$45 pizza
I have never been so disgusted with a bank and their ruthless practice of legalized theft in my entire life.
Karma is a beautiful thing and when it does its thing to Chase & co. it will be I who will be collecting a fee!
