Hillary Clinton Eyes Secretary of State or Vice Presidency

Hillary Clinton for Vice President............Or the Secretary of State?

Well, I wrote this article the day after Barack Obama won the nomination, and at the time Clinton didn't concede. So, it's a little bit out of date, but still relevant. I don't want to waste a paragraph I wrote. I wrote about one para that day, and the rest of it I wrote it today, so, its a mix of events accumulated over the last three days.

The campaign has now concluded, and Barack Obama is finally the presumptive nominee for the Democrats. I was a little agitated that she didn't concede, but of course she has ulterior motives.

As she clearly said she had 18 million voters, and they cannot be ignored (obvious blackmail). This means that if she can't get the Vice-Presidency, she is going to deny Barack Obama his Presidency. I don't know if she is going to take this to convention, and it is highly unlikely, I think her supporters will be resigned to having her being at least a Vice-President, and fulfill the "Dream Ticket" many Democrats are hoping for. The "Dream Ticket" obviously in the eyes of some democrats will unite the party, which has been so divided during the primary elections.

The way Clinton supporters came out, suggesting that she wants the Vice Presidency, I think she shot herself in the foot. There is no way Obama people are going to like being told who their Vice Presidential candidate is going to be, and increasing the opposition to her as VP candidate. I think Clinton would probably be offered the position of Secretary of State. Personally, I would like the Hillary Clinton completely out of the picture. If change is Obama's message, he shouldn't want Hillary Clinton to be even near a mile of his future cabinet. Unfortunately, he has no choice, and has to offer something to Clinton in return for her followers to support him.

A lot of people are complaining that Clinton didn't do the right thing by conceding after Obama clinched the presidential nominee. I was myself disappointed that she didn't do that, but if I were in her chair, I would have done the same thing as her. Her supporters seem to be hard core, and it would be better if she didn't disappoint them or have them focus their anger on Obama. In the end she did the good thing by not conceding, all the anger, disappointment, has probably dissipated over the past few days, and allowed the healing process to begin, and enabling her supporters to migrate to Obama.
