Today, we are going to analyze the stock performance of GOOG (Google) Stock. One of the things that we will be doing is, see at what price Google Stock debuted at, what is its current price now, how much it has grown, GOOG Stock Performance for the year to date, Google Stock Performance for the last one year, its highest stock price, and the lowest Google Stock price ever went.

Today, GOOG stock was trading at a whopping $471.48. Ever since Google Stock debuted, it has been hovering at $XXX. I myself actually wanted to bid on Google stock when it was holding its IPO, I think the price was around $80ish USD. Unfortunately, I didn't get on Google Stock bandwagon.

Today, Google Stock reached a high of $473.30 today, which is $4.61 over the opening price, and a low of $467.26, still $2.79 over the opening price. Google stock closed at $471.48, up .92%. For the Year to Date, Google opened in January 3rd at $467.59. GOOG stock was seeing a steady surge until January 12, after which point the stock has been flat until January 16, and then went into a decline. The stock has been moving regularly up and down. On January 12, Google Stock stood at $505, $504.28 on January 16, and $497.64 on January 17 and declining. It is possible that Google Stock has been dropping because Microsoft announced that it was pumping billions of dollars to garner Google's search market share. Google stock did see an occasional rise on January 24, and February 1. The stock closed on January 24 at $499.07, and $501.50. After February 1, Google stock has been declining continuously. On February 1st Google announced that its 4th Quarter Earnings nearly tripled, but it still failed to impress the analysts and the stock dropped.

For the Year To Date, Goog Stock saw a growth of $11, or 2.39%. Google Competitor, Microsoft saw its stock decline 1.16% for the year. Another Competitor, Yahoo saw its stock return a growth of impressive 14.92% for the year to date. When compared to its competitors you can say that Goog stock has been performing less than moderate - better than Microsoft but far worse than Yahoo. One has also to take into account the extraordinarily high price of Google, when compared to Microsoft or Yahoo. It is unrealistic to expect Google Stock to rise by 15% as easily as Yahoo, since Yahoo is currently trading at $29.35 which is significantly lower than Google, and any growth in dollars, will see a significant rise in percentages. Taking into account Google's high price, I would say Google has been performing well for the year, and in regards to its competitors.

Google allows companies to pay $x for a their ad to appear when a customer searches for a word related to their product. Unfortunately the prices paid for words are so high now, that virtually companies buying these ads are losing money! For example, in my industry people pay almost $1 for a click on their ad from the searched word “s e x t o y s”. At those prices there is no way to get enough sales to pay for the clicks. For example if it takes 50 clicks for one order of $50, the profit is probably close to $25, but it cost $50 in clicks. Thus the advertiser is losing money!

So why are people overpaying? The main reason is because people don’t know they are losing money. Most companies do not have a way to track whether a particular click turns into a sale. Since I have an affiliate program and have been tracking sales for over 10 years, I am able to track very accurately and have seen how bad the return is.

Another reason people over pay is because they use google’s tracking software which I found drastically overstates sales. When I used Google’s software, it was telling me one particular keyword was generating $1000’s in sales. Meanwhile, my tracking system which I know is accurate would should sales in the hundreds rather than thousands. I am sure many companies are trusting Google’s numbers and spending lots of money based on its incorrect tracking.

With Google stock at 450 and an expected growth rate of 30% per year for five years, now looks like a good time to sell.
