Review of my Motorola Q9C Smart Phone

Finally, I am doing my a review of my Motorola Q9C. I have been delaying this for quite a while now, and I think I have talked about this in numerous articles. Basically, I got Motorola Q9C with my Sprint Sero Plan (Read my Sprint Sero Plan Review). The end phone price was $150 after rebate (the rebate was $100).

The phone has a 1.3 Megapixel camera, which isn't that good, but I rarely use it so, it doesn't really matter to me.

Things that I like about my Motorola Q9C or Motorola Q9H

I like the keyboard of my Q9C, I can usually type a lot more faster, especially if I were to compare it Palm Centro. Typing on Palm Centro is outright tedious. I rarely make any errors on Moto Q9C, I guess at this point I am quite used to it. The screen is also sufficiently large enough at 2.4 inches. Since its Windows Mobile 6, there are quite a few mobile apps out there that I can install, and that clearly is an advantage. Some of the mobile apps that have really come in handy include windows live, palringo, and google maps. The ability to use these really makes this phone worthwhile. I also like the fact that the keyboard glows when it is dark, that is a very nice feature. I think other phones also have this feature, but this clearly stands out. The phone also has GPS, which is a godsend! I have been stuck at so many places, or wanted to find a nice restaurant, the phone's GPS has come in handy many times. So, the GPS feature of Moto Q9C is huge. Don't use Sprint's GPS feature, they just charge you for it, you are better off using Google Maps.

Things that makes Motorola Q9C Bad - My Motorola Q9C Complaints

There are times, this phone just shuts off, and there is full battery, and I don't know why. Maybe its defective? But when I press power button, it starts up and every is back to normal. The phone freezes up often, especially if you load up Windows Live, this phone freezes up, and I am forced to remove the battery and start the phone again. Dialing numbers on this phone is a pain. Before I tried Motorola Q9C, I tried Palm Centro, and the dial pad (touch screen) is heaven compared to Motorola Q9C. When you dial the phone, you have to make sure you don't type in wrong numbers, as the numbers are displayed on the bottom - Very Small. Moto Q9C should learn a thing or two from Palm Centro on dial pad. Listening to mp3 on this phone is pointless, and I suggest you stick to Apple Ipod, Microsoft Zune, or other mp3 players.

I know that surfing internet is a pain when you don't have a touch phone, and it is impossible for you to click some stuff you want. Those complaints do remain with Motorola Q9C, so that standard problem is also there for Motorola Q9c. The phone quality seems OK, I don't know if its Sprint or the phone, but I find the quality of the calls to be average, nothing exciting. Automated Phone Lock is something that's missing from the phone, in order to lock this phone, you have to manually press "home + Space" or click on "keypad lock". Now, that is quite annoying, I don't want to press keypad lock on my phone each time, I want it to lock by itself, and even my old samsung ah 680 had this feature, and I don't see why this phone can't have it.

Well, this concludes my review, and I hope you found it useful. If you are in the market for buying a phone, I strongly suggest you get yourself a Samsung Instinct!

P.S. I am not sure if Motorola Q9C qualifies as a Smart Phone or PDA or if it even matters. I think the phone is also called Motorola Q9h

I will be doing a Palm Centro Review Soon.
