Using Windows 7

From Windows Vista to Windows 7

Well, its been a few weeks since I have upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, and I have to say that it has been underwhelming but pleasing nonetheless. I had Windows Vista Home Premium, and there wasn't really a reason for me to upgrade, but since I installed Windows Vista when it was in Beta, I thought it was fitting for me to install Windows 7 as well. The reason I didn't install Windows 7 earlier was because I had Ubuntu installed on my computer as well, and I guess there was some partition issues and due to which Windows 7 wouldn't install. Anyway, I thought it was time for me to reformat my laptop, and I decided to install Windows 7.

The one thing I really liked about Windows 7 was how quick it got installed. As far as I can remember, it takes forever to reformat a computer with Windows XP, and I don't really remember about Vista, but I believe its longer that Windows 7. The time it takes to start Windows 7 is also much faster, which for me is quite a big thing. There are few personal quirks that I didn't like. For example, all the windows in the quicklink bar get merged even if there are only two open windows. I found it to be annoying, but I changed the setting to show all open windows unless its cluttered. Beyond that, Windows 7 is a much better looking Windows Vista. And since, Windows 7 is marginal improvement, you don't have to worry about drivers and such.

P.S. I loved how quickly and efficiently Windows 7 connected to internet, it was beautiful. Usually, its a mess to connect to internet even in Vista, but in Windows 7 it was just beautiful. If I was a Windows Vista user, I wouldn't burn my money and upgrade to Windows 7. Instead I would just continue to use Vista, but if I am getting a new computer, I wouldn't complain having a Windows 7 as the operating system.

P.S. I just realized that the title of the article was Using Windows Vista 7 instead of Windows 7
